Have we met?
Hi, my name is Katherine and I am the owner of the Green Leaf and Pebble Tea Spa and the recently opened Green Leaf and Pebble Tea Spa & Café. I thought today would be the perfect day to share my voice and tell my story in honor of International Woman’s Day. 💪💕😍
Why I opened a spa (or two)…
I’ve always loved the beauty business, and have been working, teaching, coaching and empowering women to love and embrace their beauty through the cosmetic industry platform. So, it naturally made sense for me to deepen the learning and get my Masters in Esthetics 10 years ago.
8 years ago my precious husband had rapid onset kidney failure. Which forever changed our lives.
End stage renal failure, kidney donor, advanced directive, dialysis, final arrangements, Chaplin meetings where now my reality as I blindly flailed through this whirlwind of a new reality.
Staying positive and knowing we will combat this hurdle in life was a true test. I even drew on the dry erase board in his room a picture of a cross with kidneys and wrote “kidney strong” so we can have a vision board of positivity in a dreary hospital room.💕✨🙏
We were blessed with the most experienced Nephrologist who had just arrive in the area from the Mayo clinic who aggressively treated my husband and slowly by slowly we started seeing a turn for the better!
It brought me back to a story my husband shared with me about a Japanese man he knew n Hawaii that would always talk to Denny about tea and its amazing powers. I remember reading about the power of green tea and doing more research on superfoods.
So I would get the finest organic loose leaf tea and bring it to the hospital and make sure he had 4 cups a day. 🍵 ☕️ 🌱
The next year my husband was miraculously able to get off dialysis!!
Organic teas and super foods were a huge part of our wellness journey and remains still today.
After this life changing event we decided to pay it forward by taking care people in our community and making an impact to other lives.
We opened Green Leaf and Pebble Tea Spa in the fall of 2012
What’s with the name??
GREEN LEAF to us meant new life, new beginnings, a new journey and PEBBLE, it’s the ripple effect like tossing a pebble into a pond. One can make a difference and touch so many others by their actions.
And the TEA? It’s a marriage of cultural integration, a possession of gathering, mother nature’s vitamin water and part of our journey!
I am proud to have a woman owned business and to be able to make an impact on the lives of others through the power of touch, listening, healing, wellness, friendship, mentorship, and stewardship.
I am blessed to be an employer of strong, beautiful women. To be a grandma (a Ya Ya) a mother of 2 amazing and determined daughters, and a wife of retired naval officer and a kidney failure survivor and doggie mom.
Thank you for listening to my story😍💕
